SPITSHIRE GROVE – Leon Joneway, the venerable archconservative commentator and radio host, announced on Tuesday that he will be departing his long-running radio show to launch a new podcast. Joneway, who has hosted the “Leon Joneway Show” on WSG-FM for the past three decades, said that he made the decision to launch a podcast in order to have more control over his content and distribution.
“I’ve always had a platform where I could speak freely and directly to my audience,” Joneway said in a statement. “But the podcast gives me an opportunity to speak uncensored and free from commercial conflicts of interest.”
Joneway’s podcast, which will be titled “The Leon Joneway Podcast,” is set to launch on November 6th. The show will feature Joneway’s commentary on current events, interviews with newsmakers, and discussions with listeners.
Joneway’s departure from WSG-FM comes at a time when the radio industry is facing increasing challenges from streaming services. In recent years, many radio stations have been forced to cut back on their programming or even close altogether.
Joneway’s podcast is the latest example of a conservative commentator moving to a digital platform. In recent years, several conservative personalities, including Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson, have launched successful podcasts.
It remains to be seen whether Joneway’s podcast will be successful. However, his decision to leave WSG-FM is a sign of the changing landscape of media. In an era where people are increasingly getting their news and information from online sources, traditional media outlets are facing an uphill battle.
